COLGATE COMPETES AT DUKE INVITATIONAL April 6, 2002 Durham, N.C. - The Colgate University women's track and field team competed at the Duke Invitational this weekend. The meet consisted of 85 university squads and 40 club teams. The distance medley relay consisting of Maura McCusker (Stoneham, Mass.), Andrea Graham(Mississaugua, Ont.), Danielle Gabay (Missassagua, Ont.) and Jenny McCarthy (Rutland, Mass.) set a new school record with their fifth place finish at 11:53.87. Freshman Julie Stephenson (Hyannis, Mass.) set another school record with her triple jump of 34' 4". She also ran a 100 hurdles time of 16.09 for third place on the Colgate record board. Freshman Amy Demarco (Shoreham, NY/SWR) set a new Colgate freshman record as well as a time good enough for fourth on the all-time record board with a 38:43 in the 10,000. The 4x100 relay team of Leann Teager (Holliston, Mass.), Yaruby Brenes (Lincoln Park, N.J.), Beth Stephenson (Hyannis, Mass.) and Graham ran a time of 50.05 to put themselves third on Colgate's record board. Brenes also competed in the 100 with a time of 12.72 for an eighth place finish Saturday. McCarthy ran a personal best in the 1500 at 4:41.37. That time is also fourth in school history. The Raiders will have a week off from competition before heading to the Mount Sac Relays on April 20.
