RAIDERS COMPETE AT SHAMROCK INVITATIONAL Mar. 16, 2002 CONWAY, S.C. - The Colgate women's track and field team competed at the Shamrock Invitational at Coastal Carolina today to open their outdoor season. Freshman Beth Stephenson (Hyannis, Mass.) posted the best finish for the Raiders with her first place finish in the long jump with a mark of 17" 1 1/2". Maura McCusker (Stoneham, Mass.) and Jenny McCarthy (Rutland, Mass.) finished second and third, respectively in the 1500 meter run. McCusker finished with a final time of 4:47.12 with McCarthy close behind at 4:48.62. Junior Danielle Gabay (Mississaugua, Ont.) posted another second place finish for Colgate with her time of 2:18.93 in the 800 meter run. Sophomore Andrea Graham (Mississaugua, Ont.) finished strong in the 400 with a final time of 59.65 for a fifth place mark out of 21 competitors. Freshman Nolina Quince (Syracuse, N.Y.) took fourth in the 100 meter hurdles with a time of 15.50 and fifth of 11 in the triple jump. The 4 x 400 team of Graham, Leann Teager (Holliston, Mass.), Yaruby Brenes (Lincoln Park, N.J.) and Gabay took fifth out of 11 with a time of 4:06.66 The Colgate women's track and field team will compete at the Coastal Carolina Invitational on Mar. 23. |
