WOMEN'S TRACK AND FIELD DEFEAT CANISIUS
IN KATIE ALMETER INVITATIONAL
Results
The
Colgate Women’s Track Team defeated Canisius College in the Katie Almeter
Memorial Track and Field Invitational, 54-19, in its opening indoor meet
of the 2002-03 season.
Led by freshman
jumper Shannon O'Hagan, sister sophomore jumpers Beth Stephenson and Julie
Stephenson, the Raiders placed in seven of the nine scoring finishes in
the three jumping events. O'Hagan won the high jump with 5'05.00.
Beth Stephenson took first in the long jump with a leap of 17'04.00, while
her sister, Julie took the triple jump with a 35'00.25 mark.
Julie Stephenson's day did not end
there. She took a first in the 55 meter high hurdles in 8.50 seconds
and paced Colgate with a third place finish in the 200 meter dash in
28.47. Freshman Lisa Germain and Andrea Graham led Colgate in the
other sprints as Germain took second in the 55 meters in 7.70 seconds and
Graham took first in the 500 meters in 1:20.26.
Senior Leeann Teager and
freshman Sarah Hildebrand paced Colgate in the distance races.
Teager took third in the 800 meters in 2:25.30 and Hildebrand took first
in the mile run with a 5:27.71 finish.
Colgate
continues their winter schedule January 25th at in-state rival Cornell.
