Youth Leads the Way for the Raiders at the Outdoor Patriot League
Championship May 2-3, 2003 LEWISBURG, PA. The Colgate womens track and field team placed seventh in the Patriot League Championship held at Bucknell this past weekend. The Raiders, missing Andria Graham, who took fourth in 500 indoors and sisters Beth and Julie Stephenson, who last season took second in long jump and fourth in triple jump, respectively, managed just 19 points, as Navy won the championship with 139. Four individuals accounted for the majority of the Raiders' scoring. Freshman Lisa Germain finished third in the long jump, matching her season best of 17 10 1/2. Germain also added a sixth place finish in the triple jump with a personal-best of 37 3. Highlighting the triple jump, however, was Nolana Quince who leaped 37 11 1/2 to break her own school record in the event and also finish third in the competition. Fifth place finishes also came from Danielle Gabay in the 800m with a time of 2:17.01, and Shannon OHagan in the high jump with a leap of 5 3. The Raiders 4x400 relay of Leeann Teager, Quince, Kate Wood, and Gabay produced 2 points with their fifth place finish. Other notable performers included Teager's career-best run of 25.66 in the 200-meter trials and Lia Cross in the 1500 with a personal-best of 4:51.54. Kate Wood also lowered her personal-best in the 400 intermediate hurdles with a time of 66.74.
