STONY BROOK NO MATCH FOR
POWERFUL RAIDERS HAMILTON, NY – The Colgate women's tennis team notched a convincing victory over SUNY Stony Brook on Saturday, defeating the Seawolves 7-0. The Raiders' successes started at the top and prevailed through to the bottom of the lineup. In No.1 singles, Marissa Alikpala defeated Anne Cathrine Valle 6-2, 6-0. In No. 2 singles, it was Lauren Erikson coasting to a 6-1, 6-0 win over Patricia Gomez. Tash Eno won her No.3 singles match 6-3, 6-3 over Karen Hansen while Jamie Maldow downed Georgia Bushell 6-4, 6-1. Sheila Rao was too much for Lauren Conching to handle in No.5 singles, as she cruised to a 6-1, 6-0 win. And finally in No.6 singles, Jessica Fede beat Claire Shean 6-0, 6-2. In No.1 doubles, Erikson and Rao were 8-4 victors over Gomez and Hansen. Emily Wenink and Alikpala notched a win over Valle and Carmia Zink in No.2 doubles while Maldow and Lindsey Suffredini did the same in No.3 doubles, easing past Bushell and Shean 8-2. With the victory, Colgate improves to 5-4 on the season. They will next take to the courts to play at Northwood University in West Palm Beach, Fla. The matches will start at 1:00 p.m on Monday, March 17th and will begin the team's series of spring break matches in the Sunshine State.
