RAIDERS SUFFER A CLOSE LOSS TO UMASS

AMHERST, MA – The Colgate women's tennis team fell 4-3 to UMASS on Sunday, their second match of the weekend.  With the result, the Raiders fall to 4-4 on the season.

The Raiders did manage to capture two singles matches and two doubles matches in a losing effort.  In No.1 singles, Marissa Alikpala defeated Sasha Edelstein 7-5, 7-6 (3).  In No.5 singles it was Jessica Fede winning for the Raiders, besting Jana Bartolini 6-3, 6-2.

In No.1 doubles, Sheila Rao and Lauren Erikson beat Sasha Edelstein and Dorothy Iwanowicz 8-3. Lindsay Suffredini and Jamie Maldow won 8-4 in No.3 doubles, defeating Camila Knight and Susan Hyams.

The Raiders will next travel play host to Stony Brook on Saturday, March 8.  First serve is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
