RAIDERS NOTCH A VICTORY
AGAINST BLOOMSBURG MANLIUS, NY – The Colgate women's tennis team recorded its second straight victory Friday night, easing past the Bloomsburg Huskies 6-1. Jamie Maldow, Sheila Rao, and Emily Wenink all impressed for the Raiders, each winning their singles and doubles matches. Maldow, playing No. 2 singles, defeated Julianne Brumante 1-6, 7-5, 6-2 before teaming with Lindsey Suffredini to beat Brande Hansteen and Lindsey Wychoff 8-2 in No. 2 doubles. Wenink scored an 8-3 victory over Julie McCulley in No. 6 singles and also teamed up with Allison Stoloff to win their No. 3 doubles match against Julie McCulley and Lauren Colfer 8-3. Stoloff also picked up a convincing victory for the Colgate women, winning her No. 3 singles match easily, 6-0, 6-1. Rao was a 6-3, 6-1 winner over Hansteen in No. 4 singles, and also combined with Lauren Erikson to defeat Erin Bartsch and Brumante 8-6. Jessica Fede also prevailed in her No. 5 singles encounter, emerging a 6-1, 6-1 victor over Colfer. The team's win raises their record on the season to 2-1. The women's tennis team will next take on UMBC on Sunday, February 9th. The match is scheduled for a 10:00 a.m start and will again be played at the Eastside Racquet Club in Manlius, N.Y.
