COLGATE FALLS TO SYRACUSE IN FIRST ACTION OF SPRING SEASON

SYRACUSE, NY – The Colgate women's tennis team opened their spring season with a loss to the Orangewomen.  The final score was 6-1 in favor of Syracuse.

Marissa Aikpala notched the lone singles victory for the Raiders over Masha Kabanova in their No. 1 singles match, winning 6-3, 6-7 (5).  The Raiders' No. 3 doubles team was also victorious, winning their match by a count of 8-4.  Lindsay Suffredini and Jamie Maldow combined for to beat Daniela Kaluskova and Wei-Ming Leong.

Maldow also dropped a close match to Saedinia in their No. 3 singles encounter, losing 6-3 (7) in the second set tiebreaker.

The women's tennis team will next take to the courts on Saturday, February 1st.  They will be travelling to take on SUNY Binghamton.  First serve is scheduled for 6:00 p.m at the Binghamton Tennis Center.
