Hamilton, N.Y.  - Marissa Alikpala (Providence, RI/The Wheeler School) has been named the 2002 Patriot League's Rookie of the Year in Women's Tennis in a vote by league coaches.  Alikpala, who becomes the Patriot League's inaugural recipient of the Rookie of the Year award, also earned all-Patriot League honors in singles.

Alikpala, who had five matches with at least one 6-0 set, led the Raiders at the number one singles spot with a 17-8 overall mark and becomes the 13th player in Colgate history to earn all-Patriot League honors.

Alikpala finished her season with a 5-7, 6-1, 6-3 win over Army's Annie Collier in the Patriot League semifinals.  The Raiders finished the 2002 season with an 11-9 overall mark and a 3-3 finish in the Patriot League.
