Raiders Shut Down Stony Brook Febuary 16, 2002 HAMILTON, NY. - The women's tennis team earned its fourth victory of this still-young spring season by trouncing Stony Brook 6-1. The Raiders are 4-1 in their last five matches. Colgate took the early lead by earning the doubles point, winning two of the three matches. The duo of Lauren Erikson and Lindsey Sine won a tough match to improve their record together to 6-0. The freshman pairing of Marissa Alikpala and Jamie Maldow also cruised, 8-2, at the second doubles spot. In singles play, Colgate was again led by the play of its captain, Lauren Erikson. Erikson defeated Patricia Gomez 6-4, 6-1 to improve her record to 4-3 in singles play in the spring. Meanwhile, freshman Ali Grabler saw her first action of the spring at number six singles. Grabler overwhelmed her opponent 6-1, 6-3. The Raiders continue their season tomorrow, February 17th, against UMASS at 10:00am. SINGLES Colgate (4-3) |
