Raiders Even Their Mark at Vermont February 2, 2002 Burlington, VT. - The women's tennis team earned their second win in as many days by crushing the University of Vermont 7-0. The squad's record for the spring season improves to 2-2. Coming off a 7-0 thrashing of Albany yesterday, Colgate gave its second dominating performance of the season. Freshman Marissa Alikpala demonstrated her poise by squeezing past strong opponent Molly Moran 7-5, 6-4. The close match was a constant battle, but Alikpala's tough victory reaffirms her ownership of the number one singles spot. Meanwhile, Vermont transfer Lindsey Sine, exacted some revenge on her old team. Sine, a sophomore who played on the Cats squad last year, defeated former teammate Alie Taylor 6-1, 6-0 to improve her singles mark to 6-3. Colgate again earned the doubles point by sweeping all three matches. Lindsey Suffredini and Emily Wenink hammered their opponents, 8-0, to move to 6-4 on the year. The Raiders continue their season Friday, February 8th vs. Bloomsburg at 8:00pm. Singles Doubles Colgate 2-2 |
