Women's Tennis Rocks Albany February 1, 2002 Albany, NY. - The women's tennis team earned its first victory of the spring season by blanking Albany 7-0. Colgate improves to 1-2 on the spring season (0-0 Patriot League). This match was certainly the squad's most solid performance of the season. Led by captain Lauren Erikson, the Raiders did not lose a single set. In singles play, freshman Marissa Alikpala gave another strong showing at the number one slot, winning 6-0, 6-1, to improve to 6-3 on the year. Erikson scorched her opponent 6-1, 6-1, while Lindsey Sine and Jessica Fede blanked their opponents 6-0, 6-0. Fede, already holding the best record on the team, now stands at an impressive 9-2 on the year. In doubles, the women glided past their competition led by Emily Wenink and Lindsey Suffredini at number one. Wenink and Suffredini, in their second year together, downed Alex Berley and Krista Babiarz of Albany 8-5. The Raiders continue their season tomorrow at Vermont at noon. Singles Doubles Colgate (1-2)
