COLGATE'S WISNER NAMED NCAA DIVISION III
WOMEN'S ICE HOCKEY COACH OF THE YEAR

Ted Wisner of Colgate University has been chosen by his peers as the national College Division Coaches of the Year.

The awards, sponsored by the American Women's College Hockey Alliance (AWCHA) and voted through the American Hockey Coaches Association (AHCA).

Wisner becomes the first-ever selection for Division III after leading his squad to a 21-4 mark in his first year at the helm of the Red Raiders, 16-1 in ECAC play where his only loss was to eventual national champion Middlebury. Colgate finished as the third-ranked team in the nation behind Middlebury and Augsburg.

A 1995 graduate of SUNY Potsdam, Wisner previously worked as an assistant coach at both St. Lawrence and Cornell, and was also a soccer assistant at St. Lawrence. He played center on two NJCAA Final Four teams at North Country Community College before an injury at the end of his second season cut short his collegiate career. The runner-up for this year's award is Jill Pohtilla of Augsburg.

Both awards will be presented at the AHCA Coach of the Year banquet in Naples, FL on Saturday evening, April 29, at the Naples Beach Hotel and Golf Club.
