MURPHY AND ECAC DOMINATE WOMEN'S ALL-AMERICA SQUAD

The ECAC Division I Women's Ice Hockey League is well represented on this year's Women's College Hockey All-America Team. The ECAC also had six representatives on the inaugural Division III All-America Team.

Middlebury College dominated the Division III first team with four honorees. ECAC Player of the Year Sylvia Ryan (SR, Stellarton, NS) was joined on first team by teammates Catherine Elkins (SO, D, Bernardsville, NJ), Catherine Pullins (SO, D, New Canaan, CT), and Michelle Labbe (JR, F, Pte. Claire, QUE). Colby College goaltender Josie Chapman (JR, Bristol, RI), the ECAC Goaltender of the Year, and Colgate's Heather Murphy (SO, St. Paul, MN) round out the ECAC's first team selections.

Harvard sophomore defenseman Angela Ruggerio (Grosse Point Woods, MI) is the only repeat selection on the Division I First Team. Joining Ruggerio is teammate Jennifer Botterill (SO, F, Winnipeg, MAN), the ECAC Player of the Year. Providence goaltender Sara DeCosta (JR, Warwick, RI), Brown defenseman Tara Mounsey (JR, Concord, NH) and New Hampshire forward Carisa Zaban (SR, Glenview, IL) round out the ECAC first team selection.

The All-American ballot process was conducted by the American Hockey Coaches Association (AHCA), which also oversees the voting for men's All-American intercollegiate hockey teams. The nation's varsity women's coaches voted to select a single Division I team and a single Division III team this year. The teams are sponsored by the American Women's College Hockey Alliance.
