LEHRHOFF FINISHES OFF SENIOR DAY WITH A GOAL IN 6-2 LOSS TO #1 HARVARD
Contact: Mike Zimmerman HAMILTON, N.Y.- The Colgate women’s hockey team fell to number one ranked Harvard on Saturday 6-2, but the day belonged to Toby Mandel and Nicole Lehrhoff. Lehrhoff scored her first goal of the season in the third period to set the final at 6-2. Colgate's goalie Rebecca Lahar stood on her head and for the second time this season made 72 saves in net. Harvard got started early, netting five goals in the initial period. Jennifer Botterill scored her 38th and 39 of the season in the frame and added an assist. Julie Chu found the net for the 36th time and was credited with an assist. The Raiders tallied their first shot of the game with 7:38 left in the second period. Just thirty seconds later Colgate's Carly McNaughton netted her fifth goal of the season on a slap shot from the top of the circle to the right of goalie Ali Boe. Chelsey Rhodes was credited with the assist on the Raiders goal that cut the lead to 5-1. Colgate goaltender Rebecca Lahar played outstanding in the second period saving all 29 of Harvard's shots as the Raiders kept the Crimson off the scoreboard. The Crimson scored at 6:02 of the third period on a goal by Jamie Hagerman, her second of the game. Colgate then scored when senior Nicole Lehrhoff finished off her career at Colgate with one more goal, her first of the season and 12th of her career. Kristin Cirbus and Kristy MacDonald were credited with the assists on the goal that set the final at 6-2. Both teams finished 0-5 five on the power play, as the Raiders shut down the Harvard power play that had been 40% in conference play. Harvard outshot Colgate 78-5 in the contest. Colgate now 12-19-1 on the season and 4-11-1 in the conference heads to Dartmouth next weekend for the first round of the ECAC playoffs.
