 COLGATE CONTINUES SLIDE WITH 4-2 LOSS TO YALE

HAMILTON, NY- The Yale Bulldogs defeated Colgate on Saturday by a 4-2 score to send the Raiders to their third straight loss and eighth in nine games.

The Yale Bulldogs jumped out to the early lead with a power play goal from Deena Caplette at 3:12 of the first.  The goal was assisted by Lisa Jacque and Natalie Babony and gave Yale a 1-0 lead.  Colgate answered back at 14:45 when freshman Allison Paiano netted her team-leading 10th goal of the season from Chelsey Rhodes.  The goal set the score at 1-1 at the end of one period.

The Raiders would gain their first advantage at 00:56 of the second when Cheryl Setchell netted her ninth goal of the season again from Chelsey Rhodes.  The Colgate lead would be short-lived as Yale would tie it up at two at 14:03, when Lisa Jacque scored her fifth of the season from Babony and Caplette.  The Bulldogs regained the lead at 17:03 on a goal by Deanna McDevitt.  Caplette and Jacque assisted on the goal to give Yale a 3-2 lead at the end of two periods.

Yale added an empty-net goal in the third period to set the final at 4-2.

Colgate went 0-3 on the power play and has now lost eight of its last nine games.  Yale finished 1-3 on the power play and jumped ahead of Colgate in the ECAC standings.

Rebecca Lahar finished with with 19 saves for the contest.  Sarah Love made 15 stops in net for Yale.

Colgate is back in action tomorrow at 2 p.m. against Princeton in Starr Rink.
