ST. LAWRENCE PICKS UP WEEKEND SWEEP OVER COLGATE
Contact: Mike Zimmerman HAMILTON, NY- The Saint Lawrence Saints picked up a weekend sweep of Colgate after a 5-0 win on Sunday. St. Lawrence took the early 1-0 advantage in the first period. Chera Marshall scored her twelfth goal of the season from Amanda Sargeant and Shannon Smith. The power play goal came at 16:19 of the first. Colgate goalie Rebecca Lahar stopped 17 of 18 shots in the first period. The Saints increased their lead to 3-0 in the second period with two goals by Emily Berlinguette. Her first goal came on the power play at 4:54 of the second from Rebecca Russell. Berlinguette netted her 10th of the season at 10:47 from Lindsay Charlebois and Ricki-Lee Doyle. St. Lawrence added two insurance goals in the third period from Chera Marshall and Whitney Carbone. The Saints went 2-4 on the power play while Colgate went 0-4. Rebecca Lahar made 42 saves in net for the Raiders. Colgate is now 10-14 overall and 2-6 in the ECAC, and will play next Saturday against Yale at 2 p.m.
