COLGATE ENDS SLIDE WITH 3-0 DEFEAT OF VERMONT
Contact: Mike Zimmerman BURLINGTON, VT- The Colgate women's hockey team used some late first and second period magic to down the Catamount 3-0 on Saturday and end a four-game losing streak.
Colgate's first goal came at 19:28 of the first when Maura Kehoe found the net for Colgate for the sixth time this season. Micki King set up the goal to give Colgate a 1-0 advantage. Kara Bachman's first collegiate goal at 19:56 of the second period put the Raiders up 2-0 after two periods of play. Kristy MacDonald, fresh off a broken foot injury, and Kristin Cirbus were credited with the assists. The Raiders added an insurance goal on the power play at 3:33 of the third period when Chelsey Rhodes found the back of the net on a slap shot from the blue line. Carly McNaughton and Cheryl Setchell tallied the assists to set the final at 3-0. Colgate outshot Vermont 36-23 as Rebecca Lahar recorded here third shut-out of the season and second against Vermont. The Raiders went 1-2 on the power play and held the Catamounts to an 0-4 outing on their power play. The Raiders now 3-8 in the conference and tied for sixth with Yale, head to Hanover Sunday to face the Big Green of Dartmouth for a 2 p.m. face-off.
