COLGATE DROPS ECAC CONTEST AGAINST ST. LAWRENCE
Contact: Mike Zimmerman HAMILTON, NY- The St. Lawrence Saints downed Colgate 9-0 in an ECAC match-up on Saturday. The Saints were led by Rebecca Russell's two goals and two assists. St. Lawrence jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first period. Amanda Sargeant scored her 10th goal of the season at 10:18 to give the Saints a 1-0 lead. Lindsay Charlebois was credited with assists. Trisha Powers' eighth goal of the season put St. Lawrence up 2-0 at 12:42 of the first. Rebecca Russell and Gina Kingsbury were credited with the assists. Russell's 11th goal of the season put the Saints up 3-0. The short-handed goal came at 19:29 of the first. The Saints added two power play goals in the second period both by Emilie Berlinguette. Her seventh goal of the season came at 2:54 of the second period from Russell. Berlinguette's second goal of the game came at 18:43 of the second, giving the Saints a 5-0 lead at the end of two periods. Laurie Ross and Powers were credited with the assists. The Saints tacked on four more goals in the third period. Laurie Ross, Ricki-Lee Doyle, Russell and Ross scored the third period goals to set the final at 9-0. Saint Lawrence went 2-6 on the power play, while the Raiders went 0-4. Rebecca Lahar made 35 stops in net for Colgate who drops to 10-13 on the season and 2-5 in the ECAC. The two teams will be back in action tomorrow afternoon at 2 p.m.
