COLGATE WOMEN'S ICE HOCKEY WINS 3-1 ON LAHAR'S RECORD-SETTING NIGHT
Contact: Mike Zimmerman Colgate jumped out to an early advantage with two goals in the first seven minutes of play. Carly McNaughton recorded her second goal of the season and her career at 2:29, giving Colgate a 1-0 lead. At 6:47, Cheryl Setchell netted an unassisted goal, her team-leading fifth of the season, to increase Colgate's lead to 2-0 at the end of one period. Rebecca Lahar controlled the second period, making 15 saves en route to setting a new standard for career saves at Colgate. Her 19th save of the night gave her 922 stops for her career breaking the original mark held by Jen Burtraw. Lahar finished the night with 25 saves. Colgate scored an insurance goal in the third period when Setchell netted her sixth goal of the season from McNaughton and Kristin Cirbus to give the Raiders a 3-0 lead. Quinnipiac picked up a late goal from Candace Boyles to set the final at 3-1. Quinnipiac outshot Colgate 26-21, but Lahar held off the Bobcats allowing just one goal. Colgate moves to 6-7 on the season while Quinnipiac drops to 3-9. Both teams face-off tomorrow at 2 p.m.
