COLGATE CONTINUES WINNING WAYS WITH A 5-1 WIN OVER RENSSELAER
Contact: Mike Zimmerman Colgate scored first at 7:56 of the first when Allison Paiano scored her second goal of the season off assists from Kristin Cirbus and Abbie Webb. The next two goals scored by the Raiders set a new precedent in Colgate women's ice hockey. Colgate scored at 10:47 and 10:54, just seven seconds apart, a new team record. The previous record was eight seconds. At 10:47 Avery McGlenn tallied her fourth goal of the season from Kristy MacDonald and Kara Bachman. Seven seconds later Cheryl Setchell won the face-off took the puck straight on net and scored giving Colgate a 3-0 lead and setting a new team record. Paiano tallied the fourth goal of the period for Colgate at 11:37 from Chelsey Rhodes and Cirbus. The Raiders scored their fifth and final goal at 12:25 of the second period when Becky Irvine scored her third goal of the season off passes from Amanda Barre and Cheryl Setchell. Rensselaer scored its only goal at 14:49 of the second period. Rachel Gitajn got a rebound chance and put it in. Christin Sauca recorded the assist. Colgate outshot Rensselaer 59-12 and was 0-2 on the power play. The Raiders killed all three power play chances the Engineers had. Lindsay Bourne made her second straight start in the net and picked up her second win. The Raiders begin ECAC conference action on Friday when they travel to Princeton for a 7 p.m. faceoff. |
