COLGATE WINS SEASON OPENER, COACH WILEY GETS FIRST COACHING VICTORY, 2-1 OVER WAYNE STATE

Game Statistics The Raiders started the scoring when Amanda Barre scored at the 6:00 mark. Assists on the goal were given to Kristin Cirbus and Cheryl Setchell. Wayne State tied it a one apiece when Chery Anderson scored at 1:13 of the second period. Colgate picked up the game-winning goal when Avery McGlenn scored her first goal of the season off an assist from Maura Kehoe. Wayne State outshot Colgate 35-27, but Colgate shutdown all three power play chances the Warriors had. Sophomore netminder Rebecca Lahar made 34 saves for Colgate setting her record at 1-0 on the season. Coach Wiley picked up his first win in his first ever game behind the bench as head coach. "We played well and it's great to get our first win against a tough team, but tomorrow they are going to be gunning for us so it will be a tough game," said Wiley. Colgate and Wayne State face-off tomorrow at 2 p.m. in Detroit.
