COLGATE SHUTS OUT FINDLAY TO END FIVE GAME SKID
Contact: Mike Zimmerman HAMILTON, NY- The Colgate women's hockey team ended its five game losing streak with a 2-0 win over Findlay. Rebecca Lahar saved 35 shots en route to her second shut-out of the season. Amanda Barre netted the game-winning goal for the Raiders who are now 10-12 this season. Colgate jumped out to an early lead on a power play goal by Amanda Barre, her eighth of the season and second in as many days. Cheryl Seychell and Carly McNaughton were credited with the assists. The goal at 8:25 put Colgate up 1-0 at the end of the first period. The two teams played to a scoreless tie in the second period with sophomore goaltender Rebecca Lahar turned aside 13 shots in the frame. Colgate added some insurance in the third period with a goal at 13:03 from freshman Allison Paiano. McNaughton and Micki King were tabbed with the assists. The goal for Paiano was her team-leading ninth this season. Findlay outshot Colgate 35-18, but was unsuccessful on four power play chances. The Raiders were 1-2 on the power play. Rebecca Lahar continued her outstanding season with her second shut-out of the campaign saving 35 shots. She also broke her own school record for saves in a season, her total is now 620. Colgate will get a week off before they are back in action in the ECAC conference at home February 1, against St. Lawrence.
