FINDLAY, Ohio - Raider freshman Kristin Cirbus (Jamestown, N.Y.) scored at the 6:48 mark of the third period as Colgate came from behind to defeat Findlay 5-4 on Saturday afternoon at the Clauss Ice Arena.  The loss dropped the Oilers to 5-7-0 overall while Colgate improved to 4-5-1.

Colgate jumped out to a 3-1 first period lead on just five shots against Findlay starting goaltender Erin Blair (Lisle, Ill.).  The Oilers, however, scored first off the stick of freshman Janet Ploncinsky (Bloomington, Minn.) at 7:49 of the first period.  Ploncinsky scored on a rebound past Colgate goaltender Lindsay Bourne (Redlands, Calif.) for her third goal of the season.  Sophomore Sherrie White (Neepawa, Manitoba) and Stasia Bakhit (Omaha, Neb.) recorded the assists.

The Raiders scored three unanswered goals to close out the opening period, including two by freshman Cheryl Setchell (Sydney, N.S.).  Sophomore Caitlin Hornyak (Middletown, Conn.) tied the game at 1-1 just 38 seconds after the Oilers grabbed the lead.  Rookie Maura Kehoe (Chelsea, Que.) picked up the lone assist.

Less than a minute later, Setchell tallied to make it 2-1 Colgate.  Cirbus and sophomore Katie Breen (North Andover, Mass.) registered the assists on the goal at 9:25.  Setchell would later score on the power play at 17:28 of the first to give Colgate a two-goal advantage.

Setchell's second goal chased Blair from the net, and she was replaced by freshman goaltender Amy Jones (Brooklyn Park, Minn.) at the start of the second period.  The Oilers responded with three unanswered goals in the middle period.  Junior Melissa Oliver (Hickson, Ont.) scored her third goal of the season at the 1:44 mark to cut the Raider lead to one.  Senior Monell Schroder (Redmond, Wash.) and rookie Jenn Jessop (Aurora, Ont.) picked up the assists on Oliver's goal.

White scored twice to close out the period for the Oilers, the first coming at the 6:23 mark.  Bakhit and Ploncinsky picked up the assists on the tying goal.  Bakhit fed White for another goal at 15:04, giving Findlay a 4-3 advantage after 40 minutes of play.

But the third period belonged to Colgate.  Setchell tied the game at four each at 4:33 to give her the hat trick.  Cirbus and Breen recorded the assists.  Just over two minutes later, Cirbus gave the Raiders the 5-4 lead with an assist from Setchell.  The Oilers had numerous chances from point-blank range in the third period, but could not get the equalizer past Bourne.

Findlay held a 32-16 shot advantage over the Raiders, but Blair and Jones combined to stop just 11 of the 16 Colgate shots.  Jones recorded her first loss of the season (4-1-0) by stopping nine of 11 shots.  Blair stopped just two of Colgate's five first-period shots.

For the Raiders, Bourne recorded her second-straight victory to even her record at 2-2-0 on the season by making 28 saves.

Findlay returns to action on Dec. 1 and 2, when they play Wayne State in a home-and-home series.  Colgate hosts league foes Princeton and Yale on Nov. 30 and Dec. 1 at 7 p.m. and 4 p.m. respectively.
