COLGATE
DROPS A 4-1 DECISION TO WAYNE STATE TO SPLIT THE SERIES November 17, 2001 Contact: Michele Kelley Office: (315) 228-7602 Fax: (315) 228-7977 Email: mlkelley@mail.colgate.edu Story: Liz Blake, Athletic Communications Student Assistant HAMILTON, N.Y. - Colgate senior co-captain Kelly Roos (Milford, Conn.) scored the Raiders' first power-play goal of the season, but it was not enough, as Wayne State scored three third-period goals to secure the 4-1 win on Saturday at Starr Rink. The Warriors' first goal came late in the second period as Katie Jones (Bumaby, B.C.) stuffed the puck in off of Kelly Zamora (Toronto, Ont.) and Krissy Langley (Shattuck, Minn.) rebounds. The Raiders answered quickly with Roos' goal, assisted by freshmen Cheryl Setchell (Sydney, N.S.) and Kristin Cirbus (Jamestown, N.Y.). Wayne State broke the tie when Kelly Meech (Coquitlam, B.C.) scored at 11:59 in the third period, with Laurie Petchar (Saline, Mich.) and Jones tallying assists. Jones scored again at 17:13 with a pass from Meech. Petchar scored the fourth goal on an empty net, with Zamora and Langley getting credit for the helpers. Tinna-Anne Thibideau (Barrie, Ont.) got her second win of the season, making 18 saves, while Colgate rookie netminder Rebecca Lahar (Vienna, Va.) was handed her first loss, stopping 15 of 19 shots. Colgate returns to action at Findlay on November 23 and 24.
