WOMEN'S HOCKEY SKATES PAST WAYNE STATE 2-1 November 16, 2001 Contact: Michele Kelley Office: (315) 228-7602 Fax: (315) 228-7977 Email: mlkelley@mail.colgate.edu HAMILTON, N.Y. - Freshman Chelsey Rhodes (Champion, Alb.) netted her second goal of the season to lift Colgate's women's hockey team to a 2-1 victory over Wayne State Friday night at Starr Rink. After two uneventful periods, the Warriors made their presence known 18 seconds into the third when Cheralyn Anderson (St. Paul, Minn.) broke the scoreless tie with an unassisted tally. Late in the game, the Raiders tied it up when Katie Breen (Andover, Mass.) banged home a Katie Koch (Exeter, N.H.) deflection, after Caitlin Hornyak (Middletown, Conn.) had shot the puck in from the slot. Colgate did not have to wait long for Rhodes' game-winner, which came at 15:02. Freshman Maura Kehoe (Chelsea, Que.) and sophomore Kara Lisavich (Salem, N.H.) were banging at the puck in front of the net before Rhodes managed to slip it past Wayne State goalie Tinna-Anne Thibideau (Barrie, Ont.). Raider netminder Lindsay Bourne (Redlands, Calif.) had to make just 11 saves to secure her first career win, while Thibideau had 22 stops in the loss. The two teams return to the ice on Saturday, Nov. 17, for a rematch at Starr Rink. Face-off is at 4 p.m.
