DEFEATS COLGATE 3-2 IN AN OVERTIME EXHIBITION November 10, 2001 Contact: Michele Kelley Office: (315) 228-7602 Fax: (315) 228-7977 Email: mlkelley@mail.colgate.edu HAMILTON, N.Y. – At 3:46 of the overtime period, NAHA senior Amy Quirion scored the game-winning goal of a 3-2 victory for the Winterhawks on Saturday at Starr Rink. Quirion opened the scoring 38 seconds into the game, when she ripped a shot by Colgate goalie Jen Burtraw (Brantford, Conn.). Sonny Watrous widened the gap to 2-0 with her unassisted tally at 4:59 of the second period. Raider rookie Amanda Barre (Grafton, Ont.) got Colgate back into the game with back-to-back scores at 10:25 and 14:44 of the second. The Raiders had several good power-play opportunities late in the third, but while Barre was looking for the hat-trick, she lost her edge near the boards, went in head first and had to leave the game. Burtraw made 17 saves in the loss, including one in the extra period, while NAHA's Maggie Carmany made 38 stops for the win. Colgate hosts Wayne State next Friday and Saturday, Nov. 16 and 17, for a weekend series. |
