HANOVER, N.H. – Junior Patty Kazmaier Award finalist Carly Haggard (Port Alberni, B.C.) netted a hat-trick and added an assist as regular season champion Dartmouth dispatched eighth-seed Colgate 11-1 in the first game of the ECAC JPMorgan Chase Quarterfinals on Friday at Thompson Arena.

Freshman Krista Dornfried (Framington, Mich.) started the Big Green’s three-goal first period with her sixth goal of the season at 1:43 as sophomore Louise Pietrangelo (Niagara Falls, Ont.) and rookie Danielle Grundy (Kelowna, B.C.) picked up the assists.

Sophomore Sarah Clark (Novi, Mich.) made it 2-0 Dartmouth at 5:32 as Haggard and senior Kristin King (Piqua, Ohio) were awarded with the helpers.

Haggard gave the Big Green the 3-0 advantage at 7:48 from King and senior Melissa Dolan (Natick, Mass.) as Dartmouth capped off an opening period in which it out shot the visiting Raiders 24-2.

The Big Green went up 4-0 at 3:48 of the second as Dornfried tallied her second of the night from Grundy, and Haggard made it 5-0 Dartmouth at 11:40 as King earned her third assist of the evening.

Colgate managed to get on the board at 12:19 when freshman Amanda Barre (Grafton, Ont.) grabbed her own rebound and stuffed it past Big Green senior goaltender Kate Cochrane (Hancock, N.H.).  Rookies Kristin Cirbus (Jamestown, N.Y.) and Shelby Nelson (Osterville, Mass.) assisted on the goal, Barre’s 12^th of the year.

Dartmouth remained in control of the game, as senior Kim McCullough (Toronto, Ont.) picked up her 20^th goal of the season at 16:52 from freshmen Meagan Walton (Calgary, Alb.) and Cheryl Muranko (Cambridge, Ont.).  Muranko added her own goal with 51 seconds remaining in the period from McCullough and Walton to give the Big Green a six-goal advantage after 40 minutes of play.

In the third, Dartmouth continued to pour it on, as junior Carolyne Steele (Clinton, N.Y.) scored the first short-handed goal Colgate has allowed all season at 1:54.

Sophomore defenseman Lesley Reiart (Toronto, Ont.) netted her first career goal at 17:11 from junior Jillian Rockoff (Hingham, Mass.) and Steele, and six seconds later, Muranko put the Big Green in double-digits with a goal off a face-off win by McCullough.

Haggard finished her hat-trick at 18:33 with freshman Alana BreMiller (Millbrook, N.Y.) and King chipping in with the assists.

Colgate freshman goalie Rebecca Lahar (Vienna, Va.) broke her personal high with 55 saves on the afternoon, while Cochrane stopped just six shots to earn her second win of the season.

The two teams square off on Saturday at 2:00 pm as Dartmouth will look to secure a berth in the ECAC JPMorgan Chase Championships which will be held in Hanover March 16-17.
