TROY, N.Y. - Sophomore Katie Breen (North Andover, Mass.) scored the game-winning goal and added an assist as the Colgate women's hockey team downed Rensselaer 6-0 Wednesday at Houston Field House.

Breen's goal came on the Raiders' second power play of the game at 10:13 of the first period, with classmates Katie Koch (Exeter, N.H.) and Avery McGlenn (Coaldale, Alb.) getting the assists.

Koch and McGlenn picked up their second power play points of the game at 11:14 of the second.  Rookie defender Jen Fallon (Bayonne, N.J.) took the puck from McGlenn, and shot it in from the boards.  Koch picked up the rebound and put the Raiders up 2-0 with her third goal of the season.  Just 18 seconds later, freshman Cheryl Setchell (Sydney, N.S.) added an unassisted tally for Colgate’s third goal of the night.

At 16:50, Kristin Cirbus (Jamestown, N.Y.) converted a breakaway into Colgate’s first short-handed goal since February 20, 2000.

McGlenn picked up her third point of the night with at goal at 1:57 of the third, with Breen earning the first assist, and junior Toby Mandel (Sudbury, Mass.) earning the second helper for her first point of the season.  Setchell made the final score 6-0 with her ninth goal of the season at 13:28, with senior Heather Murphy (St. Paul, Minn.) getting the assist.

Raider netminder Rebecca Lahar (Vienna, Va.) made 19 saves to earn her first career shutout and the team's second straight.  Rensselaer's Julie Vallarelli (Arlington, Mass.) came up with 38 stops in the Engineers’ loss.

Colgate (7-10-1 overall) plays a home-and-home series with Utica on Saturday and Sunday.
