WOMEN'S HOCKEY PICKS UP FIRST LEAGUE WIN, 2-0 OVER VERMONT January 12, 2002 Contact: Michele Kelley Office: (315) 228-7602 Fax: (315) 228-7977 Email: mlkelley@mail.colgate.edu BURLINGTON, Vt. - The Colgate women's hockey team earned their first victory as a member of the ECAC-North league on Saturday, with a 2-0 shutout of former Division III rival Vermont. Freshman Cheryl Setchell (Sydney, N.S.) netted the game-winning goal and added an assist on the insurance goal for her 13th and 14th points of the season. Classmates Kristin Cirbus (Jamestown, N.Y.) and Chelsey Rhodes (Champion, Alb.) assisted Setchell on the game-winning goal, which came at 14:17 of the first period. In the third period, rookie Amanda Barre (Grafton, Ont.) put the game away off on assist by senior Heather Murphy (St. Paul, Minn.) and Setchell at 6:49. Colgate netminder Lindsay Bourne (Redlands, Calif.) made 10 saves to earn her first career shutout. Catamount goaltender Tiffany Hayes (New Milford, Conn.) earned 38 stops in the loss, and broke her own single-season saves record in the process, bringing her total to 609. The Raiders, who improve to 6-10-1 overall and 1-4-1 in the league, travel to Rensselaer on Wednesday for a 7:00 game. Vermont hosts Mercyhurst for a weekend series January 19 and 20. Colgate
