HAMILTON,
N.Y. - Junior Casey Schofield (Syracuse, N.Y.) registered
her first career hat-trick while lifting Colgate to a 7-0
shutout over central New York rival Hamilton tonight at Starr
Rink.
Schofield's
first goal, which came only 75 seconds into the game, proved
to be the game-winner. She followed it up with her
second tally nearly four minutes into the second period.
Freshman Avery
McGlenn (Coaldale, Alb.) scored the Red Raiders' third
goal at 6:36 of the second. Four minutes later,
sophomore defender Toby Mandel (Concord, Mass.) lit the
lamp for the first time this season, as she scored her second
career goal. The fourth goal of the period came at 18:59
and was scored by rookie Caitlin Hornyak (Middletown,
Conn.).
Over half-way
through the third, first-year Kara Lisavich (Salem, N.H.)
scored the only power-play goal of the game, although both
teams combined for 28 minutes of penalties. The icing on
Schofield's hat-trick came at 15:56 of the final period.
The
Continentals' Jen Kroleski stopped 40 shots on the night,
while sophomore Jen Burtraw (Guilford, Conn.) split
netminding duties with junior Kari Dequine (Aspen, Colo.)
for the Red Raiders. Both Colgate goaltenders stopped
seven shots.
In their
final home game of the regular season, the Red Raiders will
host the Tigers of RIT tomorrow night at 7 pm in Starr Rink.
