HAMILTON, N.Y. - It was a shooting range during the third period at Starr Rink, as the Colgate women's ice hockey team erased a 1-0 deficit by lighting the lamp four times en route to a 4-2 victory over Bowdoin.

After 32 minutes without a score, freshman Jess Burke broke the ice for the Polar Bears with a power-play goal from junior Carrie Simonds and first-year Sadie Wieschhoff.

Colgate's leading scorer, junior Heather Murphy (St. Paul, Minn.) got the ball rolling for the Red Raiders at 2:38 of the third, tying the game at 1-1.

Junior co-captain Kelly Roos (Milford, Conn.) grabbed the 2-1 lead with her goal from fellow co-captain Lauren Pufahl (Huntington, N.Y.).

Rookie Caitlin Hornyak (Middletown, Conn.) widened the gap at 10:14, and Nicole Lehrhoff (Martinsville, N.J.) put the game away at 13:38.  Bowdoin's Ba Lanoue made a final effort with a goal at 15:36, but the score remained in Colgate's favor.

Between the pipes, sophomore Emily McKissock stoped 20 shots for the Polar Bears, while Colgate sophomore Jen Burtraw (Gilford, Conn.) made 13 saves.

The Red Raiders return to Starr Rink next weekend for their final home series of the season.  They will take on Hamilton and RIT, Friday and Saturday evenings at 7 pm.
