Gorham,
Maine - The Colgate women's ice hockey team
improved its position in the ECAC Division III
standings with a 3-2 win over league opponent
Southern Maine.
In
the first period of the contest, Colgate junior Annie
Stover (Peapack, N.J.) opened the scoring
with a goal off a pass from junior Heather
Murphy (St. Paul, Minn.) at 5:02. The
Huskies knotted the score at 1-1 nine minutes
later, when Stacy Rudnicki scored from Beth
Fulton.
The
game remained locked at one each for nearly 28
minutes, until Heather Murphy banged home her
18th of the year on the power play.
Rudnicki produced another point for Southern
Maine four minutes later at 7:03. However,
it was not enough, as Murphy put the game away at
8:15.
In
goal, Jen Burtraw finished the night with 16
saves, while Karen Jamnik withstood 29 shots for
the Huskies.
The
Red Raiders play their final regular season game
tomorrow at 4 p.m. against M.I.T. on the road.
