Gorham, Maine - The Colgate women's ice hockey team improved its position in the ECAC Division III standings with a 3-2 win over league opponent Southern Maine.

In the first period of the contest, Colgate junior Annie Stover (Peapack, N.J.) opened the scoring with a goal off a pass from junior Heather Murphy (St. Paul, Minn.) at 5:02.  The Huskies knotted the score at 1-1 nine minutes later, when Stacy Rudnicki scored from Beth Fulton.

The game remained locked at one each for nearly 28 minutes, until Heather Murphy banged home her 18th of the year on the power play.  Rudnicki produced another point for Southern Maine four minutes later at 7:03.  However, it was not enough, as Murphy put the game away at 8:15.

In goal, Jen Burtraw finished the night with 16 saves, while Karen Jamnik withstood 29 shots for the Huskies.

The Red Raiders play their final regular season game tomorrow at 4 p.m. against M.I.T. on the road.
