HARTFORD,
CONN. - Junior two-time All-America Heather Murphy (St.
Paul, Minn.) netted her second hat-trick of the season in
Colgate University's 8-0 conquest of ECAC opponent
Trinity. Murphy's first goal proved to be the
game-winner, and all three of her markers came in the first
period.
Also lighting the lamp for the Red
Raiders were freshmen Caitlin Hornyak (Middletown, Conn.),
Katie Breen (North Andover, Mass.), and Kara
Lisavich (Salem, N.H.), as well as junior Casey
Schofield (Syracuse, N.Y.), and junior co-captain Kelly
Roos (Milford, Conn.).
Junior netminder Kari Dequine (Aspen,
Colo.) stopped just eight shots for her second shutout of
the season. For Trinity, freshman Meredith
MacKinnon withstood 43 shots and all eight Colgate goals
before being relieved by fellow rookie Blair Kurtz who
stopped another 12 shots.
The Red Raiders take to the ice again
tomorrow at 3 pm when they will face Amherst to close out the
road weekend. They will be back in Starr Rink for an
ECAC series against Vermont and Rensselaer next weekend, both
games starting at 2 pm.
