COLGATE WOMEN'S HOCKEY DEFEATS HAMILTON COLLEGE 4-2

CLINTON, N.Y. - The Hamilton College (3-1-0) women's ice hockey team were defeated by Colgate University, 4-2 this evening at Sage Rink. For Hamilton they suffer their first loss of the season.

The Red Raiders dominated right from the start, outshooting Hamilton 14-3 in the first period. Hamilton goalie, Jen Kroleski (New Rochelle, N.Y.) stood strong, making 14 saves.

Colgate took a 1-0 lead at the 14:41 mark of the second period on a goal by Caitlin Hornyak (Middletown, CT). She banged home the rebound on a shot by Heather Murphy (St. Paul, MN). The Red Raiders struck again at the 17:24 mark when Katie Koch (Exeter, NH) scored on assists from Avery McGlenn (Coaldale, Alberta) and Katie Breen (N. Andover, MA). Kelly Roos (Milford, CT) capped off the scoring in the second period when she put a shot over Kroleski's right shoulder, making it 3-0 Colgate after two periods.

Breen gave Colgate a 4-0 lead when she re-directed a shot past Andrea Cecchinato (Thomaston, CT) who had come in to replace Kroleski. Finally, with 1:30 remaining Hamilton scored on a goal by Eden Self (Fairport, NY). Senior co-captain Lauren Spoon (East Lansing, MI) tallied a goal with five second remaining in the period on assists from Alex Koerte (Pennington, NJ) and Meghan Stasz (Geneva, NY).
