HAMILTON, N.Y. - Middlebury's Angela Kapus scored the eventual game-winning goal in the Panthers' 3-2 defeat of the Colgate University women's hockey team Saturday at Starr Rink.

Middlebury's first goal came at 12:05 of the first period.  Nina Kieves took a pass from Audrey Pellerin to put the Panthers up 1-0.  Erin Neil scored Middlebury's second goal six minutes later from Pellerin and co-captain Michelle Labbe.

Caitlin Hornyak closed the gap for the Red Raiders at 13:51 of the second period, after the Colgate offense pummeled the net with shots.  Hornyak's goal, her fourth of the season, came from passes by Heather Murphy and Toby Mandel.

Kapus' goal came on the power play at 11:28 of the third period from Jean Butler.  With the goalie pulled, Avery McGlenn was able to pull within one at 18:58.

Middlebury, a perennial powerhouse in women's division III play, has never lost a league game since the inception of the ECAC DIII.  They are now 96-0-0 in the conference after this afternoon's game.

Today's game was the closest Colgate has ever come to beating the national champion Panthers.  The Red Raiders lost to Middlebury last year in the ECAC Championship game 5-1.
