Downs Syracuse AAU, 82-73 Malissa Burke shines in exhibition game

RELEASE HAMILTON, N.Y. – Colgate junior Malissa Burke (Traverse City, Mich.) led all scorers as the Colgate women’s basketball team defeated the Syracuse AAU team, 82-73 on Cotterell Court on Saturday afternoon. Colgate (4-4) was led by Burke, who registered 23 points, including six three-pointers. Sophomore Leandra Fuller (Harrisburg, Pa.) had a 16-point, 12-rebound double-double while freshman Meghan Curtin (Bronx, N.Y.) tallied 15 points and six rebounds. Senior Ali Hanson (Norwalk, Iowa) had 10 points, six rebounds and six assists. Syracuse AAU was led by Leigh Azziz who had double-double with 22 points and 11 rebounds and Denise Becher who registered 12 points. The Raiders are back in action as they head to their final tournament of the season, traveling to Mobile, Ala., to take part in the Coca Cola Classic on the South Alabama campus. Colgate will face Georgia Southern on Sunday, Dec. 29 at 6:15 p.m., and Appalachian State on Monday, Dec. 30 at 2:45 p.m.
