WASHINGTON, D.C.Colgate sophomore Allison Lipinski (Garfield Heights, Ohio) became the Raider women’s basketball team’s all-time career leader in three-point shots made as she led Colgate with 19 points, including five threes, in a 72-55 loss to Georgetown University at McDonough Arena on Friday evening. Rebekkah Brunson led all scorers with a double-double for Georgetown, scoring 20 points and grabbing 18 rebounds while Carmen Bruce and Sarah Jenkins chipped in 13 and 12 points, respectively. The Raiders were led by Lipinski’s 19 points while freshman Meghan Curtin (Bronx, N.Y.) chipped in 11 in her first collegiate appearance. Sophomore Leandra Fuller (Harrisburg, Pa.) and sophomore Milaina Lagzdins (Burlington, Ontario) grabbed nine boards apiece with Fuller adding eight points and Lagzdins netting seven.

The Hoyas began the game quickly; converting their first two times down the court to take an early 4-0 lead at 18:55 but the Raiders fought back and both teams traded baskets for the next several minutes. Colgate took its first lead of the game, 11-9, at 11:26 before Georgetown went on a 22-1 run to take a commanding 31-12 lead with 2:06 left in the first half. The Raiders refused to go away as Curtin hit a three with 1:54 remaining. Freshman Megan Ballard (Atlanta, Ga.) ended the half for Colgate recording two key steals and scoring four of her five points to cut the Georgetown lead to 33-22 at the half.

The second half belonged to the Hoyas as they went on a 20-3 run to take a imposing 62-36 lead with 6:32 remaining in the game.

The Raiders are back in action on Sunday, Nov. 24 as they return to Hamilton to play their first home game of the season, facing Wagner at 2 p.m. All home games are played on Cotterell Court in the Reid Athletic Center and admission is free to the public.
