All-Patriot League Team Announced Emily Braseth and Megan Ballard honored by league.

RELEASE Hamilton, N.Y. – Sophomore Emily Braseth (E. Grand Rapids, Mich./E. Grand Rapids) and freshman Megan Ballard (Atlanta, Ga./North Atlanta), were honored by the league on Wednesday, receiving All-Second Team and All- Rookie Team honors, respectively. Braseth, a 5-11 forward, rejoined the team on Jan. 2 and has been a dominate force on offense for the Raiders. To date, she has played in 18 games, starting 12 and has led Colgate in scoring in 13 contests. Braseth has scored in double-figures 14 times and her career-high 28 points against Army on Feb. 15 was team-high for the season and is the first time a Raider has scored over 25 points since Allison Lipinski recorded 28 versus Lafayette on Feb. 23, 2002. She averages 14.7 points and 4.2 rebounds per game. She has also come up with 26 steals and dished out 23 assists on the season, while shooting .489 percent from the floor. Ballard, a 5-6 guard, has been a defensive stopper for Colgate all season long, playing in all 26 games, starting 18. She has registered at least one steal in 24-of-26 games and has twice come within one steal of tying the freshman record for steals in a game with five take-aways against Buffalo and American on Jan. 24. Offensively, she has led the team in scoring once with a personal-best 16 points against American on Feb. 23. Ballard averages 5.5 points and 2.5 rebounds per game. She is second on the team in assists with 46 helpers on the season and is shooting an impressive .723 percent from the charity stripe. Colgate (9-17, 4-10) finished the regular season in seventh place in the conference and will face the number two seed, American on Friday, March 7 at 5:00 p.m., in the first round of the Patriot League Tournament. All tournament games will be played at the Show Place Arena in Upper Marlboro, Md., and tickets can be purchased through the Colgate ticket office at (315) 228-7600. |
