EASTON, PA. – Junior Malissa Burke (Traverse City, Mich.) led all scorers with a season-high 23 points as the Colgate women’s basketball team defeated Lafayette, 71-59 on Friday evening at the Kirby Sports Center.

Colgate (7-13, 2-6) shot 50.0% in the first half and used a 20-4 run over a 10 minute span to take a 32-22 lead over the Leopards at the 2:10 mark. Colgate took a 40-27 advantage into intermission.

Lafayette (2-19, 1-8) came back in the second, cutting the Raider lead to 47-41 with 10:10 remaining before Colgate used an 8-2 drive to regain a double-digit advantage, 55-43 at the 7:31 mark. A seven point gap is as close as the Leopards would get the rest of the way as the Raiders took the 71-59 victory.

Burke led three Raiders in double-figures as senior Ali Hanson (Norwalk, Iowa) had 15 points and sophomore Emily Braseth (E. Grand Rapids, Mich.) came within one rebound of a double-double, scoring 10 points and snagging nine boards. Sophomore Milaina Lagzdins (Burlington, Ontario) grabbed a game-high 13 rebounds for the Raiders.

Lafayette was led by Ashley MacLelland with 15 points and Kristen Doherty with 11. Katie Kokolus added 10 for the Leopards.

The Raiders return to Hamilton to face Holy Cross on Tuesday, Feb. 11 at 7:00 p.m.
