Hamilton, N.Y. - Colgate's Sarah Parks (Wilmington, Del./Urusline Academy) dedication and hard work has paid off as the Raider senior reached the 1,000 point plateau in her career, an achievement not easily attained in Division I women's basketball and indicative of long hours on the court and in the gym.
"Sarah has given her heart and soul to Colgate women's basketball," said first-year head coach Beth Spycher. "For her to achieve this milestone is only fitting and is a direct result of her tireless work ethic. Sarah brings a wealth of intangibles to our team that are immeasurable and she is a leader for our team both on and off of the court."
With her seven points, eight rebounds and a team-high four steals in the Raiders' loss at American, Parks became only the 14th player in Colgate women's basketball history to score 1,000 career points. With six games remaining in the regular season, Parks, a three-time recipient of the team's Hustle Award, has 1,003 points.
Parks, a senior guard on the Raider squad currently 10-13 overall and 4-4 in the Patriot League, leads the team in steals with 55, is second in assists with 56 (2.43 apg) and is fourth in scoring averaging 4.3 points per game.
Parks and the Raiders' return to Patriot League action, Wednesday, February 6 at 5:30 p.m. when they take on Lehigh at Cotterell Court. In their first meeting of the season, on January 12, the Raiders handed the Mountain Hawks at 81-78 loss. |
