Holy Cross Downs Colgate 103-72

Worcester, Mass. - Holy Cross used six players in double-figures to down Colgate 103-72 in Patriot League women's basketball action, Wednesday night at the Hart Center. Holy Cross, which won its 16th consecutive home game, is 12-4 overall and 3-0 in league play while Colgate drops to 7-10 and 1-2 in the Patriot League.
Kristin Popovics led the Crusaders with 17 points while Maggie Fontana netted 15 points and grabbed nine rebounds. Mary Rose Campbell came off the bench and supplied Holy Cross with a double-double scoring 14 points and grabbing a game-high 10 rebounds.
Up by one at 14-13 with five minutes done in the first half, the Crusaders took control of the game outscoring the Raiders 37 to 15 to go into the halftime break with a commanding 51-28 lead behind 66.7 percent shooting from the field.
Malissa Burke (E. Grand Rapids, Mich/E. Grand Rapids) led the Raider attack with 14 points, three assists and four steals while Allison Lipinski (Garfield Heights, Ohio/Garfield Heights) netted 10 points. Milaina Lagzdins (Oakville, Ontario/Nelson) had nine points and seven rebounds in a solid performance for Colgate.
Colgate will return to action Saturday, January 19 at Cotterell Court when the Raiders will take on Patriot League rival Navy. A 1 p.m. tip-off is scheduled. |
