Coon Named Women's Basketball Assistant August 14, 2001
Hamilton, N.Y. - Kimberly Coon, a 2000 graduate of the University of Buffalo, has been named an assistant basketball coach for the 2001-02 season by Colgate University's Head Women's Basketball Coach, Beth Spycher. "We are very excited to have Kimberly join our coaching staff," said Spycher. "She understands what it takes to succeed at this level as both a student and an athlete and will greatly benefit the Raider basketball program." Coon comes to Colgate after serving as an assistant coach at Buffalo State College. While at Buffalo State, Coon coordinated the team's recruiting efforts and budget management while aiding in the development of the team's defensive strategies and player development. As a player, Coon was a full scholarship athlete at the University of Buffalo, earning four varsity letters. She earned second team All-Mid-Continent Conference honors and was recognized for her work ethic receiving the team's Most Improved Player award. She currently ranks second all-time at Buffalo in three-point field goals made with 140, and three-point field goal attempts with 348. She is third in career three-point field goal accuracy with a 40.2 percent average and is eleventh in scoring with 1,038. Coon, who has also worked as a substitute teacher in the Buffalo School Districts, earned a bachelor's degree in Health and Human Services with a concentration in Early Childhood Development with a minor in Sociology from the University of Buffalo. |
