Parks Steals and Seals Raiders Win Over

Bethlehem, Pa. - With Colgate holding slim lead, 79-78, with nine seconds remaining in the game, senior guard Sarah Parks (Wilmington, Del./Ursuline Academy) sunk Lehigh's last chance, coming up with a steal, her fourth of the game, and then scored two of her 12 points icing two free-throws to give the Raiders a three-point cushion and a 81-78 Patriot League victory.
Colgate used a well-balanced attack with five players scoring in double figures to improve to 7-9 overall and 1-1 in the Patriot League. Lehigh falls to 5-10 and 1-1 in league play.
Victoria Briscoe (Landover, Md./Riverdale Baptist) netted a career-high 17 points to lead the Raider attack while passing off four assists and grabbing five rebounds. Freshman Milaina Lagzdins (Oakville, Ontario/Nelson) powered her way to 15 points, including eight in the second half, and grabbed a team-high nine rebounds, while Malissa Burke (E. Grand Rapids, Mich./E. Grand Rapids) scored her 500th career point on 15 points, two assists and three rebounds. Freshman Leandra Fuller (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin)chipped in with 14 points and three blocks, while Parks rounded out the scoring netting 12 points, including an 8-for-8 mark at the charity stripe, while snagging seven rebounds and dishing out a career-high eight assists.
Lehigh's Anne Tierney netted her 36th career double-double scoring a game-high 22 points and grabbing 12 rebounds to lead the Mountain Hawks. Carli Toliver added 18 points, including four three-point field goals, and Jana Ransom netted 10 points off of the bench for Lehigh.
The Raiders return to action Wednesday, January 16th when they travel to Worcester, Mass. to take on Patriot League rival Holy Cross. A 5:30 p.m. tip-off is scheduled.
