Lagzdins Becomes Third Raider Freshman to
Earn Patriot League Rookie of the Week Honors

Hamilton, N.Y. - Milaina Lagzdins (Oakville, Ontario/Nelson) became the third different Colgate freshman to earn Patriot League Rookie of the Week honors in women's basketball, earning the accolades for the week of January 7-13.
In her first collegiate start, the 6'1" center tallied 14 points and grabbed six rebounds in the Raiders' 79-77 loss to American and then followed the performance with a 15-point, nine-rebound, and three-steal outing in an 81-78 win over Lehigh. Lagzdins, who leads Colgate in field goal percentage at 56 percent, shot an impressive 7-for-12 from the floor against Lehigh.
Lagzdins, who is averaging 6.7 points per game and is the team's leading rebounder snaring 6.1 caroms per outing, joins classmates Allison Lipinski and Emily Braseth as the third Colgate freshmen to earn Patriot League Rookie of the Week honors.
Lagzdins and the Raiders' return to action Wednesday, January 16 at Holy Cross for a 5:30 tip-off and then will return home to Cotterell Court to host Patriot League rival Navy, Saturday January 19 at 1 p.m. |
