Columbia Rallies Past Raiders 67-63

Hamilton, N.Y. - Columbia overcame a 10 point deficit, at 57-47, on the heels of a 14-4 run with eight minutes remaining in the game to earn a 67-63 win over Colgate, Wednesday at Cotterell Court.  Columbia improves to 6-5 while Colgate drops to 6-8. 

 

The Lions scored eight straight unanswered points on four points a piece by Edytte Key and Patricia Kern to cut the lead to two at 57-55 with 5:36 remaining.  Key ended the night with a game-high 17 points, while Kern added eight points and eight assists.  Megan O'Neill had 15 points and a team-high nine rebounds for Columbia.  

 

The Raiders battled back to a six point lead, 61-55 on back-to-back lay-ups by Jaime Glenn and Sarah Parks, but Columbia answered back outscoring Colgate 10-2 over the final four minutes of play to complete the comeback and earn the win. 

 

Allison Lipinski (Garfield Heights, Ohio/Garfield Heights) and Sarah Parks (Wilmington, Del./Ursuline Academy) each scored 12 points a piece to lead the Raiders, while Malissa Burke (East Grand Rapids, Mich./E. Grand Rapids) added 11.  Milaina Lagzdins (Oakville, Ontario/Nelson) grabbed a game-high 12 rebounds for Colgate.  

 

Colgate returns to action Wednesday, January 9 in its Patriot League opener against American, 5:30 p.m. at Cotterell Court.
