Hamilton, N.Y. - The Colgate women's basketball team made eight consecutive free throws during the final 19 seconds of the game to clinch an 84-81 upset win over Bucknell University, Wednesday night in a Patriot League game at Cotterell Court.  Sarah Parks (Wilmington, Del./Ursuline) and Allison Lipinski (Garfield Heights, Ohio/Garfield Heights) each knocked in two free throws a piece while a steady Vicky Briscoe (Landover, Md./Riverdale Baptist) connected on a string of four for the win. With the win Colgate improves to 9-10 overall and 3-2 in the Patriot League while halting Bucknell's (11-7, 4-1) six game winning streak.

Lipinski, one of four Raiders to score in double-figures, led Colgate with 20 points, including four three-point field goals while Jaime Glenn (Point Pleasant, N.J./Point Pleasant) recorded her second double-double of the season, scoring 16 points and grabbing a game-high 13 rebounds in stellar work off of the bench for Colgate.  Malissa Burke (E. Grand Rapids, Mich./E. Grand Rapids) added 15 points for the Raiders, and Parks chipped in with 10 points, five rebounds and four assists.

Bucknell had six players in double-figures and were led by the Patriot League's leading scorer Molly Creamer's 23 points.   Kate Rounsley and Desire Almind netted 12 points a piece for the Bison and Monigue LeBlanc and Kate Franks added 11 each while Vicki Quimby chipped in with 10.  Franks led the Bison in rebounding with 7 caroms.

The Raiders came out on fire early shooting 56.7 percent from the floor in the first half to take a 50-39 lead into the break.   Lipinski scored 13 of her team-high 20 points in the first half for Colgate while freshman center Milaina Lagzdins (Oakville, Ontario/Nelson) contributed nine points, eight rebounds, two steals and a blocked shot and  Glenn added eight points and seven rebounds, all before the second half, as the Raiders' ruled the inside early outscoring Bucknell 22-10 in the paint in the first half.

Bucknell surged to within three points, 58-55, outscoring the Raiders 10-2 in the first five minutes of the second half on four points a piece from Quimby and Le Blanc and a jump-shot from Almind, but Colgate pushed the lead to 13 at 68-55 with 11:05 remaining on a 10-0 run on five points a piece from Burke and Glenn.

Bucknell cut the lead to two 74-72 with 2:42 in the game outscoring the Raiders 13-2 as Creamer caught fire for eight points in the outburst.

Leandra Fuller (Harrisburg, Pa./Central Dauphin) hit a key turn-around jumper with :32 on the clock to give the Raiders' a four-point cushion at 76-72 forcing Bucknell to put Colgate on the line.

"The key tonight was our bench play," said first-year Colgate head coach Beth Spycher.  "Jaime Glenn came off the bench and racked up a double-double and role players Bridget Blot and Emily Damuth came in off the bench and provided us with some intangibles on both ends of the floor."

The Raiders will return to action Saturday, January 26 when they travel to Lafayette College for a 1 p.m. tip-off.
