CORNELL DEFEATS COLGATE, 77-65

ITHACA, NY:
Cornell junior Deborah Stevens scored 16 points and
grabbed six rebounds to propel the Big Red past Colgate,
77-65.
Katie Romey helped in the Cornell win, tallying 13 points and
ripping down a game-high seven boards.
Colgate senior Frances Boone was the top scorer for the
Red Raiders with 14, while teammate Sarah Parks tallied 12.
Boone tried to rally her team, hitting three trifectas
in the second half, but the Big Red responded with a strong
50-point total effort in the second period of play.
Cornell improves their record to 3-2, and Colgate drops
to 1-2 on the season. Tonight’s
game put Cornell ahead in the overall series with Colgate,
12-11.
In the first half, both teams shot under 40 percent.
Cornell led 27-23 sparked by Stevens who scored seven
points in the final two minutes of the half.
