COLGATE WOMEN HEAD TO IONA FOR FIRST ROAD GAME

HAMILTON, N.Y.--The Colgate women’s basketball team travels to New Rochelle, N.Y. on Sunday, November 26, for the first road trip of the season to take on the Gaels of Iona College. Game time is 2 p.m.

This is the sixth match-up between these two teams with Colgate leading the overall series 3-2. Colgate has lost the previous two meetings to Iona but looks to maintain its winning edge in the series as they challenge the Gaels this Sunday. Last year at Cotterell Court, Iona defeated Colgate 77-67.

In the season opener against Drexel University last Saturday, Colgate (1-0) picked up a convincing win, 66-55. Sophomore Colleen McCaffrey (West Springfield, MA) led the team with 14 points and five boards, while Ali Hanson (Norwalk, Iowa) scored 14 points and dished out five assists. First-year Malissa Burke (Grand Rapids, Mich.) added 12 points for the Red Raiders.

Iona enters this game 0-1 after a 93-76 loss to Virginia Commonwealth on November 18. Senior Karen Culbertson had an impressive showing with 23 points, five rebounds, and six assists, while first-year Michelle Fahy scored 22 points and managed seven boards in the game.

Colgate will face Cornell University next, traveling to Ithaca, N.Y. on Wednesday, November 29 for an evening game. The Red Raiders will then return to Cotterell Court for a home contest against Long Island University on December 2.
