HAMILTON, NY – Four Albany players were in double digits as the Great Danes toppled Colgate 83-70 in a non-league matchup at Cotterell Court.  Jess McGinlay managed a double-double, scoring 21 points and grabbing 10 rebounds in the win for Albany.

Kathryn Hemlock also tallied 21 points and handed out five assists for the Great Danes, while teammates Liz Tucker and Dawn DiMicco chipped in ten apiece. 

For Colgate, Colleen McCaffrey posted her second double-double this season, scoring 18 points and ripping down a game-high 11 rebounds.  Sarah Parks contributed 15 points and a career-high five steals, while first-year Malissa Burke added 12 points in the contest.

The Red Raiders came alive in the second half with an 18-5 run that placed them within two, 50-48, at 12:55.  Hemlock responded with a short jumper to move Albany ahead by four, but Colgate senior Laura Rohrbacher converted on a lay-up, making the score 52-50.  The Great Danes increased their lead to nine, 67-58 at 6:35, but Danielle Fields nailed a trey ten seconds later to spark another Colgate run.  The Red Raiders drew within two points once again, 67-65, with five minutes remaining.  It was not enough, though, as Albany finished the game with a 16-5 run.

In the first half, Albany captured the lead at 17:20 and dominated the entire period.  The Great Danes went up by as much as 17 points on three occasions, and Colgate trailed 45-30 at halftime.

Colgate, unable to hold on for its second win in a row, falls to 3-12 overall.  With the victory, Albany improves to 5-14 on the season.
